          • As I paint, I am filled with anticipation about how the finished work will reveal itself. My paintings are extemporaneous and are created by building layers, then scraping, erasing, and rubbing through the surface to uncover buried marks and texture that create a history of where I have been. A variety of tools are used to make unique marks and patterns as I make intuitive decisions and take advantage of the unexpected. The act of painting in such a direct manner requires a willingness to reveal ones emotions, history, and thoughts through the use of color, line, and texture. When that transformation resonates with a viewer, a visual and spiritual awareness takes place and a work becomes art.

"Why do you try to understand art?
Do you try to understand the song of a bird?"
Pablo Picasso
